A helical pile consists of a central steel shaft of high tensile steel to resist torque together with one or more helical plates.The piles are twisted or screwed into the ground using a hydraulic torque motor.

Piles are normally fabricated in set lengths, depending on the application. Additional extensions can be added until the pile reaches compact or bearing soils.
